Solent Maritime was founded in 2019 by Danny van der Ent. Danny started his career in inland shipping in 1987 on board oil and LPG-tankers. In the years following, he obtained his licenses for Master and Engineer on inland and seagoing vessels and was promoted to Master. After some 10 years, Danny made the move to towage and offshore operations. Following to his service as a Master, he acted as Tow Master , Salvage Master and Project Manager in offshore projects till 2015. Since 2015, he has acted as an expert witness in the field of inland shipping and towage operations. In addition to his expert work, he keeps his knowledge up-to-date by serving several weeks a year on board inland tankers in the position of Master.
